Building Energy Efficient Ratings
Local Law 33 encourages building owners to make efficiency improvements that reduce energy use, lower operating costs, and enhance comfort for occupants. It provides greater transparency into a building’s energy performance and empowers New Yorkers to make informed decisions about the buildings in which they live, work, and play.

Meet Compliance Deadlines
The NYC benchmarking law – Local Law 84 – requires owners of large buildings to annually measure their energy and water consumption in a process called benchmarking. The Building Energy Efficiency Rating scores and grades for these buildings are determined by the annual benchmarking data and are released each year on October 1st.
Understand the Rating System
The Building Energy Efficiency Rating letter grade correlates with a building's annual ENERGY STAR score assigned by the US Environmental Protection Agency's benchmarking tool.
